RHS Awards Night

Okay, it's momma bragging time. Cameron is the only sophomore at his high school who has been taking college classes. He took 2 in the fall & 2 more in the spring. And they weren't easy classes (Biology, English Comp, etc.) He got a 3.86 GPA fall semester and is slated to get a 4.0 this semester. He was recognized at the RHS Awards night as one of 2 boys named "Top Academic Male Sophomore." (he's the one wearing the tie)

3rd-5th Field Day 2010

The 3rd through 5th graders in our district had their field day. The kids have the opportunity to compete in 4 events -- 2 track and 2 field events. Brenner picked the 50 yard dash and the 400 yard run as his track events and the shuttle run and softball though as his field events. Brenner ended up taking 1st place in the 50 yard dash, 2nd place in the 400 yard run, and 7th in the shuttle run.

K-2 Field Day 2010

Drew and Dalin had a great time at field day. The sun was shining and there were lots of fun things to do. Both boys say their favorite was working the firehose.

The Mohawk (or should I say faux-hawk)

So Drew has been begging for years to either have cornrows or a mohawk. I've put him off for so long, but... He finally was victorious. Since his hair was no-where long enough for cornrows (as if!) he ended up with a Mohawk. Okay, so its really more like a faux-hawk, but its as close as this mom is willing to get to the real thing. Oh how this child is gonna give me a run for the money when he is a teenager!

Drew played his trumpet at the Highland Hills Elementary school talent show. He has only had 4 months of lessons and made up his own version of the "Star Spangled Banner."

Rawlins Outlaw Spring Soccer

This spring was the Rawlins Outlaws first year to have a soccer team. Quite a few of their games got cancelled due to bad weather. And many times they played in the pouring rain. They had a great first season as a team with a 2-2-2. Cameron did an awesome job and got the "Most Valuable Defensive Player" award.

Pentathalon Swim Meet

Brenner and Drew swam in the Rawlins Pentathalon. They each swam 5 events: Backstroke, Butterfly, Breaststroke, Freestyle and the IM (individual Medley). Drew took 8th place overall in his age group and Brenner took 5th place overall in his age group.

Pinewood Derby

We had such a great time this year building pinewood derby cars. The boys picked their designs, dad cut them out, the boys sanded them, and then we all had a great time painting them. Dalin, who is only 6 and not quite in Cub Scouts, insisted that he have a car too and that it needed to be Lightening McQueen. So mom obliged. It took me 5 hours to paint all the detail on his car. I am usually artistically challenged and so felt very proud that his car indeed looked like Lightening McQueen. On the day of the event the boys were extra excited. Dalin kept wanting to know if he was going to win a medal. There were 12 Cub Scout cars and 10 non-scout cars in the competition. In the end, Brenner took 1st and Drew 3rd overall and Dalin took 1st out of the non-scouters.
